Are you self-employed? Have you read the small print on your insurance policy?
I know I’m meant to read all the small print but I never do. So, what was in the small print in my Income Protection policy? Read on and I’ll share all four points with you PLUS an extra one they added all by themselves.
It really matters when you are self-employed and won’t be able to earn a living for 3 to 6 months.
I’m with the man who sued God
Insurance companies get a lot of bad press. They seem to be the client's best friend when they are signing someone up, and then when that client puts in a claim it's all very different. Maybe that's why the wonderful Australian movie, ‘The Man Who Sued God’ was so popular. It's certainly one of my favourites and I watched it again recently while convalescing.
Over the years I've had a few friends and family members go through unpleasant experiences when making a claim with their insurance company and on one occasion I've certainly had that myself. I've also had a few good experiences, and I put that down to going for the best value rather than the cheapest quote when selecting a policy.
In fact, I wrote an article once relating how impressed I was when my insurance broker persuaded me to pay more on my house and contents policy. If you want to know how anyone could get a Scotsman to part with an extra $204.35 click on ‘Miracle’.
